What does the Product Evaluation tell you?

The Product Evaluation Program is powerful. Why? Because it provides you with much of the information you need to decide to move forward with your product or to let go and move on to your next idea (note: The first product I launched was my third idea not my first). It provides detailed information about the market you are entering, profit margin potential (is it financially viable to produce your product), possible distribution channels, safety & regulatory challenges, legal/intellectual property issues, the competition, manufacturability of your product, and the advantages and challenges that your specific product presents.

I thought I would answer a few frequently asked questions about this program:

Is the Mom Invented® Product Evaluation right for me?
For the past eight years, I have said that I believe the inventor is the best person to get his or her product to market whether by licensing or taking it to market directly. And, during that time I have written over 200 columns, four books and numerous blog posts in an effort to share the knowledge and experience we have learned in this process. I recommend that every inventor become as knowledgeable as possible.

The goal of our product evaluation is to apply all of our experience and knowledge to the marketability of your product. I am confident that you will gain valuable insights from this process that could save you thousands of dollars and months of time.

Is the patentability search necessary?
Our goal is to provide you with a well-rounded opinion as to the potential of your product as well as the options available. It is important to understand that a patent is usually not essential to take a product to market, but it is important to know what is possible in developing a strong go-to-market strategy. In order to do so, it is necessary to have a full understanding as to the novelty of the invention. If a patent has been filed by a registered patent attorney, then it is almost certain that he or she conducted a patentability search. A Provisional Patent Application is not the same as a Utility Patent Application so it would not eliminate the need to have the patentability search done.

Will you review my product as a possible fit with your Mom Invented® family of products?
The Product Evaluation program is open to any inventor, irrespective of gender or status. However, we will consider every product that is mom invented for our product line as part of the evaluation process.
