Amy Fazackerley, mom of three active boys, created the Lay-n-Go. Lay-n-Go is a multi-award winning patent-pending activity mat, cleanup, carry-all and storage solution in one for families at home and on-the-go! Watch this great video:

Mom Invented:  What inspired you to create your product?
Amy:  My three sons and their MILLIONS of small LEGO pieces! Lay-n-Go is about a Mom who loved all her kids’ incredible mind building toys with small pieces but needed an easier solution to clean, contain and manage the chaos.

What's the biggest mistake you've experienced in this process? How did you overcome it?
Amy:  Gaining the knowledge and information to get started has been the biggest challenges for us. Getting all of the resources in place (manufacturing, advisers, web integration, technical processes, testing, financials, etc..) has been a tremendous amount of work and takes most companies years to really get it moving like a "well oiled machine". With today's technologies, at our fingertips, we have been able to do what used to take years into months or even weeks!

Mom Invented: What has been your greatest success in this process?
Amy: Our greatest success has been building our brand. We have been on four National TV shows and just received our 13th award, for innovation and design, last week.

Mom Invented: How can people find you?

Tony Deitch created Sasquatch!® Pet Beds. It's the Perfect Pet Bed...with Panache! Tony is our "honorary mom" in this feature story. He read, The Mom Inventors Handbook to bring his product to market. Watch his video and be prepared to laugh out loud! I don't even have a dog and I love this video.

Mom Invented: Describe your product.

Tony:  Your pet will go ape over their new cozy haven, and you'll love the faux fleece Sasquatch!® Sock, that simply pulls out for easy machine washing. The entire bed is made of cushiony, non-toxic material that's odor resistant and has a lifetime warranty! Just wipe clean! The unique "roll bar" at the heel provides the perfect place for your pet to rest their furry head. Our unique material will help keep your family members cool in the summer and warm in the winter... and YOU get a touch of dramatic style for your home!

Mom Invented: What inspired you to create your product?
Tony:  Pets are members of the family, and even in hard economic times, people take care of their family first.

Quite clearly, there is no other pet bed on the market like this one. It's a conversation piece as much as a place for your cat or dog to sleep. The over-sized shoe is lined with a fluffy fleece-like fabric that keeps pets warm in the winter and cool in the summer and is of course, machine washable. The rubberized exterior can be washed down with the garden hose and is made of a lightweight, non-toxic material -- should the urge to chew simply become irresistible. The base is also odor-resistant and anti-microbial.

Mom Invented: What's the biggest mistake you've experienced in this process? How did you overcome it?
Tony: Not planning for my products success, not having the funding in place for growth. I've learned to back up and slow down, not rushing into different markets... preparing for the growth ahead of us.

Mom Invented: What has been your greatest success in this process?
Tony: It was named best of show at the SuperZoo trade show in Las Vegas and the H.H. Backer Pet Industry Show in Chicago, which led to a feature on the CBS Morning Show.

My dear friend, Jenna McCarthy, wrote The Parent Trip: From High Heels and Parties to Highchairs and Potties.

Mom Invented: Tell us about your book.

Jenna: It takes readers on a hilarious ride from conception and pregnancy through the first wild-eyed, miraculous months with a baby.

Described by reviewers as “hilariously funny,” “whip-smart” and “utterly original”, this book delivers the message every fledgling parent longs to hear: YOU ARE NOT ALONE.

Mom Invented: What inspired you to write this book?
Jenna: The first time I was expecting, I bought every book I could find on pregnancy. I learned a lot by reading them. (The placenta is edible! There’s even a name for the practice: placentophagia. This is good information to have! But with all due respect to the authors of these very helpful and essential works, I wanted more. I knew that I might develop morning sickness (which now I know is a big, fat misnomer, by the way, because this particular breed of illness definitely does not wear a watch), but no one told me that I might take sudden and violent offense to the aroma of my couch while I was pregnant, or that I would hate my husband on a regular basis for no obvious reason, or that after the baby was born I would come to view the “Five Second Rule” as an acceptable standard of hygiene. There was very little talk about the possibility of not-very-much liking actually being pregnant, and even less talk about the conflicting extremes of delight and despair I might feel after my child was born. I had questions but no answers: Would sex ever be the same (assuming I could muster some enthusiasm for it in the first place)? Why are mothers so damned competitive? And would someone please tell me what the hell a Velboa Snuzzler is? I figured I couldn’t be the only woman who was stupefied by the mysterious but clearly established rules of motherhood. So I learned as I went—and then I wrote a book.

Mom Invented: What's the biggest mistake you've experienced in this process? How did you overcome it?
Jenna: I don't believe in the word "mistakes". Every bad decision teaches you something profound, and it's all part of getting to where you want to go. I try to teach my kids to embrace so-called mistakes as part of the process of life.

Mom Invented: What has been your greatest success in this process?
Jenna: Getting to do what I love to do every single day and still be here for my family. Score!

Watch this HILARIOUS VIDEO for Jenna's latest book, If It Was Easy They’d Call the Whole Damn Thing a Honeymoon: Living and Loving the TV-Addicted, Sex-Obsessed, Not-So-Handy Man You Married. Don't miss the out-takes at the end. My favorite!

Celebrities and their children love wearing Faith Smith's Eyes Cream Shades! Her sunglasses company has become a leader in providing "quality" sun-wear for kids ages 6 months and above. All frames are durable, as well as comfortable; and all lenses are polycarbonate and provide 100% UVA & UVB protection.

Mom Invented: What inspired you to create your product?

Faith: Most of the sunglasses for kids are more like "toys" or novelty items. They do not provide the proper UV protection, and the frames are usually made of poor quality plastics. In addition, most of the lenses are made of acrylic, which is not the recommended for kids.

We have been quite successful in building a niche brand, and loyal following, especially among eye care professionals, as well as moms, dads, and grandparents looking for "quality " sun-wear for their little loved ones. Many of the celebrity moms and dads sport their little ones in our sun-wear, and our products have been seen in major motion pictures, as well as on prime time television shows.

Mom Invented: What's the biggest mistake you've experienced in this process? How did you overcome it?
Faith: I think one of the biggest mistakes/challenges most entrepreneurs face is building the right team of people, those who are great in areas where you may not be as strong. i.e. finding someone who excels in numbers, details, and spreadsheets if you are great at marketing, sales, and big picture thinking. We are very fortunate as we now have a team of extremely passionate, genuine, and complementary talents.

Mom Invented: What has been your greatest success in this process?
Faith: The greatest success has come from those in the editorial departments of trade magazines, mass media publications, as well as online magazines, who have raved about our products, and have assisted in educating parents, grandparents as to the importance of adequately protecting their little loved ones precious eyes, not just in summer, but all-year-round.

Kids love, Debbie Oser's Pleasant Dreamz Positive Affirmation Pillowcases. They are FUN, Unique, and Inspiring as they naturally provide Self-Confidence, Self-Esteem and Positive Thinking! There are 16 Positive Affirmations printed in non-toxic water based ink on our bright colored 20"x30" Pillowcases!

Mom Invented: What inspired you to create your product?
Debbie:  My inspiration and "ah-hah" moment came the Summer of 2007. Every night, I would say Positive Affirmations to my two boys, who were 4 and 6. While we were at the playground one afternoon, I went over to help my older son climb the monkey bars. As I approached him, he stopped me by saying, "No, Mom, I don't need you - I can do anything I put my mind to!" At that moment, I knew I was on to something! The Positive Affirmations that we had been saying every night, were actually changing his thinking patterns, allowing him to be more confident, and self-assured! I wanted to spread this "I CAN DO ANYTHING!" attitude and thinking to as many people as I could! The more people out there believing in themselves, the more dream catchers there will be!

Mom Invented: What's the biggest mistake you've experienced in this process? How did you overcome it?
Debbie: The biggest mistake that I've experienced in this process was trying to solely sell my Pillowcases from my online website. I realized that I needed to get "out there" more with the product... so I started to reach out to stores, online stores, and doing vendor shows.

Mom Invented: What has been your greatest success in this process?
Debbie: My greatest success in this process has been validation that this product does "work!" I love receiving emails from customers that they/their children/the recipient of the Pillowcase HAS become more self-confident and self-assured! I know that saying the Affirmations truly does change your mental attitude, behavior, habits and can reshape your life... but hearing from others that this is working for them as well, just gives me true satisfaction and happiness! I want everyone out there BELIEVING in themselves and knowing that they CAN!

Are we given step by step instructions and told who to contact, where to go, what to do next ? I already have your book.
