For my new book, which will be published next summer, I'm looking for stories about creative and unusual ways our members have gotten their first customers after they launched their businesses.

Did you have a chance meeting at a conference or dinner party? Did you make a long-shot cold call and get a surprising result? Did you use your online network to find the perfect retailer for your product? If you have an interesting story to share about how you found your first customer and made the sale, we want to hear it.

If you have friends with interesting stories to share about their first customers, let them know about this opportunity, as well. Please be as detailed as possible with your story, and remember that we're not looking for a lot of company background -- we're looking for your story about landing your first customer.

I won't be able to personally get back to everyone who submits a story, but if your story is chosen, I will contact you via email and when the book comes out next summer, you'll get a free copy.
